A Valentine's Day Concert with Nathan Carls

The Hoogland Center for the Arts and Denney Jewelers are proud to present a Valentine’s Day concert featuring Nathan Carls and the upStandard Citizens on Tuesday, February 14th at 8 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $12 for seniors and students.

The concert will feature many of the standard love songs made famous by great entertainers like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin.

Nathan Carls is a cabinetmaker by trade, and has been an active performer throughout his life in both theatrical and music settings. He last appeared at the Hoogland Center for the Arts as George Bailey in our radio production of It’s A Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play. Other notable theatrical work includes productions with Jacksonville Theatre Guild in the Frank Sinatra tribute My Way, as God in David: You and I, Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar, the Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Phantom in Phantom for Beardstown Community Theatre, and the young future President in Ken Bradbury & Bob Crowe’s production of Abraham! for 6 seasons at the Theatre in the Park in Lincoln’s New Salem.

As the lead performer of Nathan Carls & the upStandard Citizens, he performs jazz standards from the 1930’s and 1940’s, crooning the vocal nuances of the era to keep the great music alive and timeless. Nathan, Carrie and Parker Carls live in Beardstown, Illinois.

This evening of romantic music is part of the non-profit Hoogland Center for the Arts ongoing fundraising efforts. Ticket sale proceeds from this event will help pay expenses for the 80,000 square foot community arts center, which is enjoyed by over 10,000 people each month.
